[미드] 빅뱅이론 (the Big Bang Theory)

시즌이 마무리 되기를 기다려 소문이 자자하던 빅뱅이론을 보았다.
사람들이 말하던 "미치도록 웃기다"까지는 아니지만 꽤 재미있어서 벌써 전 에피소드를 5-10번 정도는 본 것 같다.
(내가 이렇게 한 드라마를 여러 번 보는 이유는 영어 때문이다. 이 글 참고 => 2009/03/24 - [學而時習之不亦悅乎/언어] - 영어 공부에 도움이 되는 미드. 늙은이들 드라마만 보면서 간과하게 되는 urban slang (쉘든 말마따나) 및 라즈의 액센트에도 익숙해질 수 있다. 물론 쉘든같이 말하는 미국 사람들은 본 적이 없지만, 그가 쓰는 다양한 어휘도 쓸만하다. 야한 농담이나 히브리어에 버금가는 물리학과 괴짜들 용어 때문에 영어 공부하기에 아주 좋다고는 말할 수 없지만, 선별과정만 거친다면 괜찮을 듯 싶다.)

드라마에 대해 간단히 말하자면 오타쿠, nerds, geeks 들의 이야기이다. 스타워즈나 슈퍼히어로물을 좋아하는 공학도나 자연과학 전공자라면 더욱 즐겁게 볼 수 있을 듯 하다.

캐릭터에 대해서 간단히 소개하자면

레너드 허프스태터 박사(Leonard Leakey Hofstadter): Johnny Galecki가 연기하고 있다. 실험 물리학자이며 IQ 173이다. 비록 오덕후지만 가장 제정신에 가까운 캐릭터.

쉘든 쿠퍼 박사(Sheldon Cooper): Jim Parsons가 연기. 이론물리학자이며 IQ 187에 박사학위 두개를 소위하고 있다. 레너드와 룸메이트이며 여러가지 강박증에 시달리고 있다(Monk와 매우 비슷한 캐릭터) 빅뱅이론은 쉘든이 웃기는게 반 이상. ㅋㅋ

페니(Penny): Kaley Cuoco. 레너드와 쉘든의 이웃이며 치즈케이크 팩토리 웨이트리스이나 배우의 꿈을 포기하지 않는다. 이들 nerds와 어울리며 잘 버텨가고 있다. ㅋ

하워드 왈로위츠(Howard Wolowitz): Simon Helberg. 공학석사, 유태인이고 27살인 지금도 어머니와 같이 살고 있다. 아무 여자한테나 집적거리는 캐릭터. 포텐셜이 터지면 쉘든만큼 재미있는 캐릭터 일 것 같은데 다음 시즌을 기대해야 할 듯.

라제쉬 쿠쓰라팔리 박사(Rajesh Koothrappali) Kunal Nayyar. 인도 유학생으로 소립자 천체물리학자이다. 여자 앞에만 서면 말을 못하는데 단 알콜을 마시면 괜찮다.

빅뱅이론은 이야기 전체에 큰 줄기는 없지만(미국 드라마가 가장 잘하는 떡밥 투척도 잘 못한다), 캐릭터 빨이 아주 잘 사는 시트콤이다.
프렌즈나 프레이져만큼 재미있다고는 말 못하겠지만, 뭔가 새로운 시트콤을 원한다면 꼭 한 번 보기를 권하는 바이다.
